Setting Up Document Upload Links
Request files from clients using external upload services.
How Document Collection Works
HeyIntake doesn't store files directly. Instead:
- You provide a link to an upload service (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
- Clients click the link and upload directly to your storage
- You receive files in your chosen platform
Configuration Steps
- Go to Settings in the sidebar
- Find Document Handling section
- Choose your preferred method:
- None (documents not required)
- External Upload Link
- Business Email (clients email you documents)
- If using External Link, enter your upload URL
- Add instructions for clients
- Save settings
Supported Services
Any file sharing service works:
- Dropbox File Requests — Best for organized collection
- Google Drive Folder — Share a folder link
- WeTransfer — Simple file transfers
- Custom portal — Your own upload system
What Clients See
When documents are required, clients see:
- Your instructions explaining what to upload
- An "Upload Documents" button
- Clicking opens your external upload link
