Using Dropbox File Requests
Dropbox File Requests provide a clean way to collect documents from clients.
Why Dropbox File Requests?
- No Dropbox account needed — Clients can upload without signing up
- Organized storage — Files go to a designated folder
- Professional experience — Clean upload interface
- Notifications — Get notified when files arrive
Creating a File Request
- Log into Dropbox
- Go to File requests (or dropbox.com/requests)
- Click Create request
- Name your request (e.g., "Client Documents")
- Choose destination folder
- Set optional deadline
- Copy the generated link
Adding to HeyIntake
- Go to Settings > Document Handling
- Select "External Upload Link"
- Paste your Dropbox File Request link
- Add instructions like: "Please upload your brand guidelines, logos, and any reference materials."
- Save settings
Client Experience
When clients click "Upload Documents":
- Dropbox upload page opens in new tab
- They drag/drop or browse for files
- No login required
- Files appear in your Dropbox folder
Tips for File Requests
- Name clearly — Include client name in request title
- Set deadlines — Optional but helpful
- Create per-project — For better organization
- Check regularly — You'll get email notifications
