Using Dropbox File Requests

Dropbox File Requests provide a clean way to collect documents from clients.

Why Dropbox File Requests?

  • No Dropbox account needed — Clients can upload without signing up
  • Organized storage — Files go to a designated folder
  • Professional experience — Clean upload interface
  • Notifications — Get notified when files arrive

Creating a File Request

  • Log into Dropbox
  • Go to File requests (or dropbox.com/requests)
  • Click Create request
  • Name your request (e.g., "Client Documents")
  • Choose destination folder
  • Set optional deadline
  • Copy the generated link

Adding to HeyIntake

  • Go to Settings > Document Handling
  • Select "External Upload Link"
  • Paste your Dropbox File Request link
  • Add instructions like: "Please upload your brand guidelines, logos, and any reference materials."
  • Save settings

Client Experience

When clients click "Upload Documents":

  • Dropbox upload page opens in new tab
  • They drag/drop or browse for files
  • No login required
  • Files appear in your Dropbox folder

Tips for File Requests

  • Name clearly — Include client name in request title
  • Set deadlines — Optional but helpful
  • Create per-project — For better organization
  • Check regularly — You'll get email notifications
